Intro to unknown Jig

You Lovers All (Frank Harte & Donal Lunny)

My friend chatgpt wrote a little text for me:

Dónal Lunny (born 10 March 1947, Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland) is a seminal figure in Irish traditional music—renowned as a bouzouki player, guitarist, composer, and producer. CFA Creative Futures Academy+3Wikipedia+3Wikipedia+3

He was a founding member of several landmark bands, including Planxty, The Bothy Band, Moving Hearts, Coolfin, and Mozaik. CFA Creative Futures Academy+3Wikipedia+3Wikipedia+3 Lunny is widely credited with introducing and popularizing the flat‑backed Irish bouzouki—modifying its design (via luthiers such as Peter Abnett) to suit the demands of Irish folk accompaniment. Beyond instrument performance, he has worked as a producer and arranger, collaborating with both Irish traditional and international artists, continuously innovating across decades. allcelticmusic.com+2Wikipedia+2

Donal Lunny at Custy's Music Shop - Unknown Jig Intro Tab for GDAD

Just found this video of Donal Lunny and Mary Custy playing two Jigs. Unfortunately they don't remember the name of the first tune. The second one is Bucks of Oranmore. I like the intro Donal plays, so I tried to tab it.

So this is the tab.

The Parting Glass - Sandra Joyce, Donal Lunny

The debut album by Sandra Joyce has just been released. On most of the tracks she is accompanied by Donal Lunny.

You'll find the album here on bandcamp where you can listen to it and buy it as download or CD.

You'll get 10 beautiful songs, two of them unaccompanied and the other 8 beautifully arranged with bouzouki, flute, fiddle and concertina.

I was blown away by the sparse beauty of the arrangement of the well known song "The Parting Glass". I tried to get near the arrangement of Donal Lunny, I hope I got some of his ideas.

You can listen to the song here on bandcamp.

So is is the tab I made, might be rhythmically not correct, but I hope most of the chords are. If you'd like to have the tab as printable pdf please click here.

If you download please comment here!

Of [A5]all the money [E*]that [F]e’er I [D]had  {c:E*=nur Ton E}
[G*]I’ve [C]spent it in [F*]good [C]compan[G]y
And [Am]all the [F]harm that [C]e’er I’ve [G]done
[D/A]A[C/G]las [F]it [C/G]was [D/A]to [Am]none but [F]me
And [C]all I’ve [C*]said for [C]want of [C*]wit
To [F]memo[G*]ry [G]now I [Am]can’t [G*]re[G]call
[G*]So [Am]fill to [A5]me the [C]par[G*]ting [G]glass
Good [C]night [F]and [C]joy [G*]be [Am]with [G*]you [F]all

If I had money enough to spend
And leisure time to sit a while
There is a fair maid in Limerick town
that sorely has my heart beguiled
Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips
she alone has my heart in thrall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all.

Of all the comrades that e’er I had
They are sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e’er I had
They'd wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I’ll gently rise and I’ll softly call
Good night and joy be with you all

Frank Harte/Donal Lunny - You Lovers All

An old recording from 2003 which shows fine singer Frank Harte together with Donal Lunny on Bouzouki. This is a lovely Irish/Canadian emigrant song which has been recorded several times, Goitse did it, and there's a fine version sung by "Open the door for three" and Mick Moloney, but I first heard it sung by Len Graham.

A woman sets off in to search for her lover. She has no idea where he might be found. But she knows he is in North America. And fortune is with her, she finds him in the first bar she enters.

Ye Lovers All
Ye lovers all both great and small
Who dwell in Ireland
Oh I pray you pay attention
Whilst I my pen command
It was my father’s anger
That drove my love away
But I still have hopes
We’ll meet again in North Americay
My love he was fair and handsome
And to him I gave my heart
Ah but little was our notion
That we would ever part
It was in my father’s garden
That this flower it did decay
But I still have hopes twill bloom again
In North Americay
Now I did not want for money
Kind fortune on me shone
So out of my father’s castle
I took five hundred pounds
It was in the town of Belfast
My passage I did pay
And then set sail across the sea
To far Americay
Now the captain’s wife was kind to me
As you may understand
And she kept me in her cabin
Until we reached dry land
It was in the town of Quebec
We landed on the quay
But I knew not where to seek my love
In all Americay
Now I being sick and sore and tired
Well I went into an inn
And it was there I found my William
The lad I loved within
He took me gently by the hand
And to me he did say
Oh I never thought I’d see your face
In North Americay
Now I hear this couple has got wed
As you may understand
And I hear they live quite happily
In a town they call St. Johns
And the money that she took from home
Well in gold she paid it down
And they think no more of Ireland
Nor Enniskillen town.
There you can find a lovely recording of Niamh Parsons together with Gerry O'Beirne on Guitar.
I tried to tab the intro Donal plays. Here it is, Capo 4th fret:

Here's the first verse, hope it is nearly correct. Unfortunately Tabledit recognizes chords not always correctly and I don't know how to change the names of chords:
But if you download please comment!
